It’s been 40 years since Leicester sax and synth pop band, The Swinging Laurels, signed a major record deal with WEA Records. Although this popular live band released singles for the label, no album was ever released. Until now! After combining together various demo cassettes and vinyl releases, mixing and mastering, the two men that started the band back in 1979, John Barrow and Gaz Birtles, have now formed an album’s worth of ‘lost’ tracks. Released on Leicester independent label, Scatola Rosa, the 10 track Vinyl album package, Return to the Future, includes a CD of the full album plus seven extra tracks including all 6 singles from the 1980’s.
Formed in 1979. Signed to Albion Publishers and released their first single, Peace of Mind / Swing The Cat on Albion Records in 1981. Released a 5 track EP on Dining Out Records. Played brass on the Fun Boy Three track, The Telephone Always Rings and appeared on TOTP. Signed to WEA Records. Released the singles, Rodeo and Lonely Boy in 1982. Supported Culture Club on 2 UK tours, at the request of fan Boy George. Split from WEA and put out Zoom (Take The Test) and Push and Shove on their own Happy Records. Split in 1989.

FALLING (NEW SINGLE) – Recorded at Woodbine Studio – Leamington Spa 1983 – Produced by John Rivers.
This was originally due to be released as a single for Albion Records back in 1983 but was put on hold when a deal with Virgin Records was brokered for us by Culture Club drummer Jon Moss. The deal unfortunately fell through so the release was sadly shelved.
